Connect a full Spotify Premium account to play matched songs through Spotify — background play and lock-screen controls without uploading MP3s. Discovery and unmatched songs still use YouTube. Spotify Lite or Mini do not work.
You already use one Google account on both sites. Turn this on to keep shuffle preference in sync, and so Analytics can colour listening from each site separately.
Private audio files you upload power Background Play on your phone. They stay on your account only — normal listening still uses YouTube. Everyone gets 500 MB.
